With deep sadness, YJHM shares the news of the passing of its Founding Editor Howard Spiro on March 11, 2012. Howard attended Harvard College and Harvard Medical School before establishing the gastroenterology section at the Yale School of Medicine in 1955. In 1983 he established the Program on Humanities in Medicine at Yale and in 1999 the Yale Journal for Humanities in Medicine. We will sorely miss him. We would like to pay tribute to Howard's memory by publishing remembrances of his life and work. Please email memorials long and short to info@yjhm.org. We hope to post a collection of memorials in the coming weeks and may be accessed at the following link: In Memoriam pieces
